What is WHO Racing?

Who Racing was jointly setup in Febuary 2010 by Robin Cornwall and Andy Player as a non-profit slot car racing club for the public to come and enjoy this fun and inexpensive hobby. Since the first event Who Racing has grown in leaps and bounds with increased attendance, new lap timing equipment, a club shop with many more exciting instalments to follow. We will always aim to provide a competitive, but fun, enviroment for our racers and ensure they have a great nights racing.

What is Slot Car Racing?
Slot car racing is more commonly known as "Scalextric" by most and involves electric model cars riding in a predetermined slot whilst racing others. The aim is to stay in the slot and be the fastest person round the track. Sounds easy until your racing with three other people and there all trying to be the one in the lead!

What does HO mean?
HO is the term used to describe the small scale of slot cars that we race. HO slot cars are generally 1/64th scale and approximately the size of a matchbox or corgi model car. They maybe small but they handle well, look great and go fast! Take a look at the video on our calendar page to get some idea of how they move.

What's the race event format?

30 minutes practice - Everyone take turns to get to know the track and gets ready for the race.

4 x 3 minute heats - race against your competitors on each of 4 coloured lanes. Your best 3 scores determine which final you race in.

1 x 3 minute final - determines your finishing position and points for the race.

The winner and the highest-finishing junior (under 16) receive medals.

Points go towards a championship for each class with  trophies and prizes awarded at the end of the year.

Juniors also have their own championship.

Results, pictures and a video are published on this website along with a  full commentary of all the race action. Discussions are held on our Slot Forum pages.
